We have all heard of Dragon Naturally Speaking, by Nuance, I've been using it on and off for several years and have frequently contacted them by email asking when they might be making an iteration for mobile phones.
They have usually replied, too, saying that it wasn't even on the horizon and then, out of the blue, they announce a free - I repeat FREE - app for the iPhone.
Why didn't they tell me, didn't they already know I wanted this app.
From the Nuance site;
"With Dragon Dictation, you can text or email your friends, update Facebook status, send notes and reminders to yourself, or tweet to the world… all using your voice . . ."
And; "Dragon Dictation is an easy-to-use voice recognition application powered by Dragon NaturallySpeaking that allows you to easily speak and instantly see your text or email messages. In fact, it’s up to five (5) times faster than typing on the keyboard."
They are almost ready to release their search agent, too, which will work with most of the well known search engines.
I have always liked Nuance because it works and works well and I see from their feedback pages, it seems to be going down very well.
I have tried it and it is so simple. I believe that, like their other products, it pays to correct misspellings so it becomes accustomed to your voice and accent. (The only trouble I had was with names, everything else was understood first time, every time.)
As I understand, it doesn't yet hook you up with a contact by voice but I am sure that will soon be possible.
If you have an iPhone, I would recommend you get it and give it a turn round the block.
